Because they have only just started out as a band and want to appeal to the masses. It’s a sad fact that being gay in a boyband does not get you respect or taken seriously. It most often gets you ridicule. Sad times, still, people. Once they’ve earned respect as musicians and are known as more than just good-looking lads, maybe then they’ll trust the world to accept them as being gay. Until then, they need to protect themselves with girlfriends/beards. But in the meantime, the more you voice your acceptance of them being possibly gay, the more likely they are to feel comfortable coming out sooner. So coo and squeal over every gay moment you can x
